I was reminded recently that that producing art is indeed a generous act. As I was voicing my own feelings of failure regarding being a more generous human, my friend asked gently,
“If art-making isn’t a generous act, what is?”
I’m tickled at the idea that art might carry this much weight. Some days it feels truer than others. Regardless, I’ll continue to wrestle with the implications of this thought, but at it’s most basic, I think it stands as a message to share what you create with those who will see and receive it.
